Domains

All websites need a domain. It is the address used for the world to find your site. Most domains are the typical www.somename.com - but there are also what is called 'sub-domains', they are a domain that exists as a sort of branch of a main domain. This site here, members.dragonsmark.com, is an example of a sub-domain off the dragonsmark.com domain.

Master domains, such as dragonsmark.com are set up through a registrar (we use and recommend GoDaddy.com), whereas subdomain are set up through the company hosting that main domain. Registering a domain name generally costs about $9-10 a year. Sub-domains do not have that cost since they are not set up through a registrar.

Dragon's Mark offers hosting on a sub-domain off one of our master domains in order to help you get a website without having to register your own domain. The domains we currently offer are;

• freeformroleplaying.com

A subdomain we host for you will generally be set up using your Dragon's Mark user name or character name. (panther.realmofrhydin.com for example) Check back on occassion to see if we have added any other domains to this list.
